Stories of first-year residents who work for Fundación Visión
Dra. Adriana Del Valle Cáceres, Paraguay, Universidad del Pacífico, Republica del Paraguay
I finished my studies in Medicine at the University of the Pacific, Paraguay and since the beginning of my career Ophthalmology always aroused my interest. Knowing the history and experience of the Fundación Visión with great enthusiasm I applied for the exam in order to become a resident of Opthalmology at this institution. I am very happy, although I am the only national resident, this experience not only forms me in the field of eye health in my country but also allows me to meet and interact with professionals from different countries of the region. I am very proud to be part of the Fundación Visión”.
Dr. Sergio Sánchez, Perú, Universidad privado Antenor Orrego, Trujillo/Peru
After finishing my career as a surgeon in my country (Peru), with the aim of specialising in Ophthalmology and knowing that the Fundación Visión provides highly training in the field of Ophthalmology it was my deepest desire to make my residency at this institution with the expectation to grow on both a personal and professional level. In addition to the background of colleagues who attended their residency, I noticed the existing academic ability; I fully share the enthusiasm for wanting to improve myself and be part of this great family that shapes Fundación Visión which I am proud to belong to.
Dra. Celeste Hinds, Guayana, Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas, Carlos J Finlay, de Camagüey-Cuba
I’ve always wanted to study Ophthalmology, is a critical need in my country. I am very happy to have been chosen for this specialty at Fundación Visión through Guyana Care and the Caribbean Council for the Blind. I hope by finishing my studies I can propel strategies at my country that contribute to the project “Vision 2020, eye care for everyone.”
Dra. Noelia Mercado, Bolivia, Universidad Mayor de San Simón, Cochabamba/Bolivia
I am very happy to be part of the family Fundación Visión as how I felt from the beginning I kept in touch. My goal is to give my best in this Entrepreneurship. I have the opportunity to make my training as an Ophthalmologist at the Centre which will generate many changes in my personal as well my professional life. This new stage requires sacrifice and I commit myself to overcome, to interact and to go through with the apprenticeship in order to care for the eye health of persons. I feel very proud and gratified.
